The Virginia GOP's War on their members

In a desperate attempt to hold on to their power the Virginia GOP has had a concerted effort to marginalize the Tea Party and define them as "Radicals" "Racists" & "Nativist" ( ask Tito Munoz and Shaun Kenney what that is) they've had their online GOONS harassing & bullying tea party members in blogs , on facebook and at GOP meetings. I say that Virginia Tea Party Americans should take the hint and accept the fact that we are unwelcomed in today's Republican Party of Virginia. We should stop supporting them with our time and money and come election day we should stay home.

People like Brian Schoeneman , Bill Bolling and Shaun Kenney have said that tea party people are to RADICAL for the GOP, they have said that we scare independents from joining the party. So then, why should we stay where we're not welcome? Let them try to win elections without us. NO DONATIONS, NO VOLUNTEERING, NO VOTING.

Signed,
John Galt

GOP lawmaker offers bill to kill 'lame duck' House session...

via Drudge..
Democrats Keep Door Open to Dangerous Lame Duck Session
Washington, Jul 29 - Republican Study Committee Chairman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement after offering a resolution on the floor of the House of Representatives calling on Congress not to hold a lame duck session after Election Day for the purpose of passing hugely unpopular legislation like a national energy tax, enormous deficit spending bills, and the kickback to Big Labor known as “Card Check.”

“Americans are sick and tired of their elected leaders making backroom deals to ram through unpopular, 2000-page bills that no one has read,” said Chairman Price. “They are sick of out-of-touch politicians, and they are tired of being ignored. A number of Democrats, including members of their leadership, have recently expressed a desire to ignore the public will and use a lame duck session to pass liberal legislation Americans do not want. Today I gave my Democrat colleagues an opportunity to show they are finally ready to listen to the American people.

“Our system of government rests upon the consent of the governed, but it is quite clear that Democrats no longer have Americans’ consent. The public’s trust in this Congress has been repeatedly broken. Voting for a national energy tax and other items on the liberal wish list in a lame duck session would shatter it beyond repair. Republicans are fully prepared to do what is necessary to restore Americans’ trust in their elected representatives. We know it will be a long road, but it is one well worth traveling.”

Note: Instead of taking a clear stand on this issue, House Democrats chose to delay a vote on the Price resolution

THE GOP COUNT

The GOP health care count: 209 no, 204 yes, 18 undecided

There are two ways to count votes for the Democrats' national health care plan. The first is to tally the lawmakers who are definitely yes or leaning yes. The second is to count the ones who are definitely no and leaning no.
From the Republican side, it's the second group that matters. Just like Democrats need 216 votes to pass the bill, Republicans and their Democratic allies need 216 to stop it. I just got off the phone with a well-placed House GOP source, and the Republicans' latest count is that there are 209 votes against the bill at this moment, leaving opponents seven short of being able to defeat it. By the same count, there are 204 votes for the bill, leaving the Democratic leadership 12 short of being able to pass it. There are 18 votes thought to be undecided.

What He Said

When I heard that Chris Dodd would be resigning, my initial reaction was, I wonder what he was promised .. well Erick Erickson over at RedState explaines it to me... ( hey, does he have mind reading skills?)

Health Care Suicide Bombers: Instead of 72 Virgins, They Get Ambassadorships

Byron Dorgan and Chris Dodd have blown up a barrel full of socialism, potentially spreading it’s toxic mix all over the country, lowering mortality rates, driving up health care costs, and giving the nation a health care bill no one is happy with.

Now they will quit.

The Republicans need to take note of this because we are, in fact, beginning to see something new from the Democrats. As I and others have written about before, the Democrats recognize there is no longer such a thing as a permanent political majority. Instead, the Democrats can effect a permanent policy shift in the country and are willing to take the hits to do it.

The ramifications of this are huge. Dodd and Dorgan, powerful senators, are taking bullets for the team. They are voting to pass health care deform, knowing that doing so will cause their defeat. So to save face and be martyred, they’ll take themselves out instead of having the voters do it. Obama will reward them not with 72 virgins, but with cushy appointments.

From here on out, I think the Democrats realize they are headed back to the minority. It may take 2012 to make it happen, but with that knowledge, they are going to go all out advancing their radical socialist agenda gambling that the GOP, back in power, will not have the guts or veto proof majorities to roll any of it back.

How to Defeat Obamacare

Erick Erickson nails it
The healthcare bill violates § 425(a)(2) of the Budget Act, which prohibits consideration of any legislation that contains an unfunded intergovernmental mandate in excess of $69 million per year. If the point of order is raised and sustained, a simple majority may vote to waive the point of order. But the waiver is debatable and thus would presumably require 60 votes to cloture the motion to waive. This would require them to produce 60 votes at a time when they do not have their deal wrapped up yet, once again burning up three days.

On every vote, including on constantly raised points of order, the Republicans should be objecting that the vote total is incomplete – the Democratic Chair will rule that it is complete and the Republicans then appeal and once again force a vote, delaying the process again and again.
