Bob McDonnell to Give Response to Obama's State of the Union

via Breibart..Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell will deliver the Republican response to President Barack Obama's State of the Union address next Wednesday.

Republican leaders in Congress announced the decision on Thursday in a statement, saying that McDonnell "understands that the American people are more interested in shrinking unemployment than expanding government."

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky called McDonnell "an impressive public servant and an excellent choice to offer Republican solutions for our country." McDonnell was inaugurated this past week. He won the Democratic-held governorship last fall, one of two major GOP victories. Republicans also unseated a Democrat in New Jersey.

Virginia GOP Poised for Big Comeback

Doug Mataconis over at PJmedia
While Deeds was busy talking about the thesis, McDonnell was doing what he’d been doing since he began his campaign. He was talking about the issues that have been at the forefront of Virginia politics for years: the economy, transportation, and the state budget. Republicans had not connected with voters on these issues in the past, and that was one of the reasons that they’d suffered defeat in four consecutive years. By contrast, Creigh Deeds seemed to be unable to come up with proposals that consisted of anything other than generalities. Independent groups criticized Deeds for not having a coherent transportation plan as late as September, and voters clearly noticed.

McDonnell addressed voters concerns while Deeds insulted their intelligence.

McDonnell Leads by 11 POINTS!

MANDATE

The Post does it's best to defend Obama and make this kind of crushing defeat not about the President, but this kind of reality is difficult to deflect. Of course Virginia is a mandate on Obama and the Democrats performance. If Deeds was behind by less than 5 or tied, you could blame the loss on Deeds, BUT this election looks like it will be a crushing defeat, and that you can lay at Obama's clay feet.

McDonnell holds double-digit advantages when it comes to dealing with the economy (plus 17 percentage points), transportation (16 points), taxes (25 points) and has overtaken Deeds as the one more trusted to handle issues of special concern to women (7 points). On taxes, which has been a focal point of the campaign in recent weeks, McDonnell has stretched his lead significantly, and now holds a better than 2 to 1 lead over Deeds among independent voters.

Obama throws Deeds Under the Bus

Obama has his anonymous "soldiers" blame Deeds for not following Obama's campaign direction.
WaPo covers for their messiah again

According to Obama's "soldiers" Deeds isn't behind in the polls because Obama's approval numbers are tanking, he's behind because he didn't listen to Obama! What Crud! Deeds campaign was a very negative, very "Alinsky"" ACORN" type campiagn, the only card he didn't throw at McDonell was the race card. I hope the GOP will be watching the polling places very carefully for Union and ACORN workers on election day and they better check everyones ID very carefully.

we wouldn't want anyone from MARYLAND voting in Virginia
