Obama at George Mason Patriot Center Today

Between 200-300 people showed up to protest Obamacare today at the Patriot Center in Fairfax. They had us in the back entrance of the building on the South Side.. well hidden from the main drive of the University. I had to ask around to find other protesters.

The Washington Post os reporting that 8,000 people filled the Patriot Center. I say NO WAY! Everyone on line was in the center by 10 AM. I find it impossible that 8,000 people entered the center in an hour since the lines on both entrances were never very long and they opened the doors at 9 AM. And let's not forget that no everyone who went into the Patriot Center was pro Obama.

Outside where we were protesting there were 5 college age kids holding signs which were pro Obamacare. just 5... so poor Obi-one couldn't get more than 5 of his his brown shirts to attend a college campus rally.... just saying...

Feds run Medicare and we Lose BILLIONS every year

REP. DARRELL ISSA: The Lackluster Record of Government Health Care:

Already Medicare, which accounts for 14% of all federal spending, is rife with waste, fraud and abuse. Even Attorney General Eric Holder has said, “By all accounts, every year we lose tens of billions of dollars in Medicare and Medicaid funds to fraud.”

A recent analysis by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) estimated that federal subsidy programs cost taxpayers about $100 billiion , with Medicare and Medicaid accounting for more than half of that on every year in improper payments. Harvard Professor Malcolm Sparrow, a specialist in health care fraud teaching at the Kennedy School of Government, has estimated that as much as 20% of the federal health program budgets – or approximately $150 billion – is eaten up by improper payments every year.

No budget gimmick can hide that kind of wasteful spending from the American people, and no expansion of the government’s role in health care can mitigate the systemic problems that already exist. . . . Each year, the government spends an average of $927 in administrative costs per person for Medicaid and $509 for Medicare. Private insurance, on the other hand, costs only $453 per person in administrative costs. Until the government can demonstrate an ability to get administrative costs under control for programs that it already runs, Americans should vehemently oppose any effort to give bureaucrats in Washington any more power to control the one-sixth of the U.S. economy that affects health care.

THE GOP COUNT

The GOP health care count: 209 no, 204 yes, 18 undecided

There are two ways to count votes for the Democrats' national health care plan. The first is to tally the lawmakers who are definitely yes or leaning yes. The second is to count the ones who are definitely no and leaning no.
From the Republican side, it's the second group that matters. Just like Democrats need 216 votes to pass the bill, Republicans and their Democratic allies need 216 to stop it. I just got off the phone with a well-placed House GOP source, and the Republicans' latest count is that there are 209 votes against the bill at this moment, leaving opponents seven short of being able to defeat it. By the same count, there are 204 votes for the bill, leaving the Democratic leadership 12 short of being able to pass it. There are 18 votes thought to be undecided.

Firm No, Leaning No, Likely No

Rick Boucher (Va.) (N) GOP target who has told local press outlets in Virginia he has major problems with Medicare cuts and "unsavory dealmaking" that benefited Nebraska, Louisiana and Florida. Leaning no

Leaning Yes or Likely Yes

Gerry Connolly (Va.) (Y) Obama to visit Connolly's Fairfax, Va.-district on Friday. But Obama doesn't have to worry about Connolly's vote. He is a very likely yes. Voted yes in Budget Committee markup on March 15

Glenn Nye (Va.) (N) In toss-up race
Tom Perriello (Va.) * (Y) Took a step toward a yes by endorsing Senate abortion language on March 16. Still has not said how he will vote. In toss-up race this fall; Pelosi had long talk with the Virginia Democrat on March 10 on the House floor

Health Bill is Malpractice

By U.S. Senator Tom Coburn, M.D

For months, the American people have been telling Congress to scrap the current bills. A recent CNN poll found that 7 in 10 Americans want Congress to start over on health care, or quit working on the issue altogether. Yet, the majority in Congress continues to march on in the face of overwhelming public opposition.

The American people have good reason to be concerned. The bill that may become law in a few days is not a collection of so-called fixes or compromises but the exact bill the Senate passed on Christmas Eve that was filled with backroom deals such as the Cornhusker Kickback. The Senate bill also still contains half a trillion dollars in Medicare cuts, half a trillion dollars in tax increases, job-killing penalties for employers, provisions that will cause premiums to spike, and radical provisions to fund abortion and ration health care.

INSTAPUNDIT'S “THEY TOLD ME IF I VOTED FOR MCCAIN” — the series.
Teases..
They told me if I voted for McCain, the war on terror would be run by a bloodthirsty cowboy who’d make a mockery of civil liberties. And they were right!

They told me if I voted for John McCain we’d see a burgeoning Police State — and they were right!

They told me if I voted for John McCain Feds and police would be pushing for warrantless searches of your cellphone. And they were right!

THEY TOLD ME IF I VOTED FOR JOHN MCCAIN, we’d see a new Orwellian era of surveillance

Cuccinelli sends Pelosi a Letter

Almost threatening a Supreme Court challenge if she uses the Slaughter strategy......

Dear Speaker Pelosi:

I am writing to urge you not to proceed with the Senate Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act under a so-called “deem and pass” rule because such a course of action would raise grave constitutional questions.

Based upon media interviews and statements which I have seen, you are considering this approach because it might somehow shield members of Congress from taking a recorded vote on an overwhelmingly unpopular Senate bill. This is an improper purpose under the bicameralism requirements of Article I, Section 7 of the U.S. Constitution, one of the purposes of which is to make our representatives fully accountable for their votes.

Furthermore, to be validly enacted, the Senate bill would have to be accepted by the House in a form that is word-for-word identical (Clinton v. City of New York, 524 U.S. 417 (1998)).

Should you employ the deem and pass tactic, you expose any act which may pass to yet another constitutional challenge.

A bill of this magnitude should not be passed using this maneuver. As the President noted last week, the American people are entitled to an up or down vote.

Sincerely,
Kenneth T. Cuccinelli, II
Attorney General of Virginia
