Constitutional Amendment That Would Give States The Ability to Repeal Congressional Acts ??

What a GREAT idea!

“It restores a lot of the sovereignty and a lot of the power that the states have lost,” said Marianne Moran, executive director of RepealAmendment.org and *former executive director of Tea Party In Action.
Georgetown Law Professor Randy Barnett initially devised the idea in a 2009 Wall Street Journal opinion piece, which drew the attention of numerous Tea Party activists.

Getting the backing of 34 states, the magic number needed under Article V of the U.S. Constitution to call a constitutional convention, could be an uphill climb, but Moran is undaunted.

Virginia will be the first state to vote on issuing a resolution calling for a constitutional convention to discuss what Moran calls the “Repeal Amendment” when its House of Delegates convenes in January.

“The founding fathers who put together our Constitution … were very, very concerned about the power a large federal government, which … was the driving reason behind the first 10 amendments; a lot of what they feared has come to pass,” Virginia House Speaker Bill Howell told The Daily Caller. “I think it is vitally important that we restore some of that balance, which has been taken away.”

Howell hopes to get bipartisan support for the resolution when he brings it up for a vote next year, and he has been working with state legislators in other states to convince them to back similar resolutions.

The amendment would give the states the power to overturn federal laws even if they have the president’s signature.

“It takes 34 states to petition Congress and call for an Article 5 convention,” Howell said. “I think if Congress saw 30, 32 … states passing resolutions calling for the convention they would act ̶ they’ve done that in the past…They did it with the Seventeenth Amendment and with other efforts.”

Leader of Progressive Caucus: We're Introducing New Legislation to add "Robust Public Option" to ObamaCare

SURPRISE!!
A leader of the House liberals' caucus said Monday she'll introduce new legislation to revive the public option.

Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-Calif.), the co-chairwoman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, said she plans to unveil legislation to add the government-run option to the national healthcare exchange established by legislation President Barack Obama is to sign tomorrow.

"We will introduce a robust public option bill on the very day the president signs the reconciliation bill into law," Woolsey said Monday during an interview on MSNBC.

The public insurance option had been a part of the healthcare legislation first approved by the House in November, but Senate Democratic leaders were forced to abandon the provision after it became clear that they wouldn't be able to get all 60 Democrats (at the time) to sign onto legislation containing that provision.

Obama at George Mason Patriot Center Today

Between 200-300 people showed up to protest Obamacare today at the Patriot Center in Fairfax. They had us in the back entrance of the building on the South Side.. well hidden from the main drive of the University. I had to ask around to find other protesters.

The Washington Post os reporting that 8,000 people filled the Patriot Center. I say NO WAY! Everyone on line was in the center by 10 AM. I find it impossible that 8,000 people entered the center in an hour since the lines on both entrances were never very long and they opened the doors at 9 AM. And let's not forget that no everyone who went into the Patriot Center was pro Obama.

Outside where we were protesting there were 5 college age kids holding signs which were pro Obamacare. just 5... so poor Obi-one couldn't get more than 5 of his his brown shirts to attend a college campus rally.... just saying...

Arrogance, Corruption , Stupidity

and a Big Dose of TYRANNY

Tom Coburn explains his vote against Obamacare
"This vote is indeed historic. This Congress will be remembered for its arrogance, corruption and stupidity. In the year of 2009, a Congress ignored the coming economic storm and impending bankruptcy of our entitlement programs and embarked on an ideological crusade to bring our nation as close to single-payer, government-run health care as possible. If this bill becomes law, future generations will rue this day and I will do everything in my power to work toward its repeal. This bill will ration care, cut Medicare, increase premiums, fund abortion and bury our children in debt.

This process was not compromise. This process was corruption. This bill passed because votes were bought and sold using the issue of abortion as a bargaining chip. The abortion provision alone makes this bill the most arrogant piece of legislation I have seen in Congress. Only the most condescending politician can believe it is appropriate to force Americans to pay for other people's abortions and to coerce medical professional to take the lives of unborn children."
